Cryptocurrencies are often described as secure because they are protected by strong cryptography. Breaking the underlying code is practically impossible. Yet every year, people lose large amounts of digital assets to theft. How can a secure system be so easy to rob?
The answer is that attackers rarely break the code itself. Instead, they target people. A common method is phishing, in which criminals create fake websites or send messages that look official and trick users into revealing their passwords or secret recovery phrases. Once thieves have this information, they can move the funds within minutes.
Unlike a bank transfer, a cryptocurrency transaction usually cannot be reversed. There is often no customer service department to call and no way to get the money back. This makes the consequences of a single mistake much more serious than in traditional banking.
Experts recommend several basic precautions. Users should never share their recovery phrase, should check website addresses carefully, and should be suspicious of offers that sound too good to be true. Storing large amounts in a hardware wallet, a device that keeps keys offline, can also reduce the risk. In the end, the weakest link in security is usually human, not technical.

正解:2. By tricking people into revealing secret information
根拠:第2段落「trick users into revealing their passwords or secret recovery phrases」
Q2 Why is a single mistake especially serious with cryptocurrency?
- Transactions usually cannot be reversed.
- Banks charge high fees.
- Prices never change.
- Customer service takes a long time to respond.

正解:1. Transactions usually cannot be reversed.
根拠:第3段落「usually cannot be reversed」
Q3 What is the author's main point in the final paragraph?
- Hardware wallets are completely safe.
- Cryptocurrency should be banned.
- Security usually fails because of human behavior.
- Website addresses cannot be trusted.

正解:3. Security usually fails because of human behavior.
1の completely は本文の can also reduce the risk(リスクを減らせる)より言い過ぎです。
根拠:第4段落「the weakest link in security is usually human, not technical」
