The first wave of generative AI tools worked like very capable conversation partners: you asked a question, and they replied. A newer generation, often called AI agents, goes a step further. Given a goal, an agent can break it into smaller tasks, use software tools, browse the web, write and run code, and check its own progress, all with limited human supervision.
Businesses see enormous potential. An agent might handle routine customer requests from start to finish, reconcile invoices, or draft and test a new feature for an app. Proponents argue that this could free employees from repetitive work and let them concentrate on judgment, creativity, and relationships.
However, giving software the power to act, not just to talk, raises new concerns. An agent that misunderstands its instructions could delete important files, send emails to the wrong people, or make unauthorized purchases. Security researchers have also shown that malicious text hidden in a web page can sometimes trick an agent into following instructions from an attacker, a technique called prompt injection.
For these reasons, many organizations are adopting a cautious approach: granting agents only the permissions they truly need, keeping logs of every action, and requiring human approval before anything irreversible is carried out. The technology is advancing quickly, but trust, as always, must be earned step by step.

正解:2. They can plan and carry out multi-step tasks using tools.
break it into smaller tasks, use software tools, browse the web ... 3は with limited human supervision(限られた監督で)と逆です。
根拠:第1段落「an agent can break it into smaller tasks, use software tools」
Q2 What is 'prompt injection'?
- A way of making agents work faster.
- A method of tricking an agent with hidden instructions in content it reads.
- A tool that checks an agent's progress.
- A system for approving purchases.

正解:2. A method of tricking an agent with hidden instructions in content it reads.
malicious text hidden in a web page can ... trick an agent into following instructions from an attacker が定義。trick A into doing は「Aをだまして~させる」。
根拠:第3段落「malicious text hidden in a web page can sometimes trick an agent」
Q3 Which safeguard is mentioned in the passage?
- Giving agents access to all company systems.
- Deleting logs to protect privacy.
- Requiring a person to approve actions that cannot be undone.
- Using agents only on weekends.

正解:3. Requiring a person to approve actions that cannot be undone.
requiring human approval before anything irreversible is carried out。irreversible(元に戻せない)→ cannot be undone の言い換え。1は only the permissions they truly need と逆です。
根拠:第4段落「requiring human approval before anything irreversible is carried out」
